Indonesian locality notes and qualifications
- Sulawesi
- Sulawesi, Sangihe and Talaud.
- Maluku
- Ambon (the type locality), Banda, Gora, Haruku and Tanimbar are listed.
- Papua
- Indonesian New Guinea; nearby islands listed include Misool, Batanta, Salawati and Liki. No finer mainland boundary is verified here.
Family placement follows the Reptile Database (Boidae); Candoiidae is an alternative classification discussed there.
Historical records from the broader carinata complex need review. Stray Belau references are excluded, and no detailed mainland Papua range is inferred.
Source explicitly lists Indonesian occurrence; no contrary country-level exclusion in Comment.
From the literature
Natural history
- Produces live young; the database labels reproduction ovoviviparous. [1]
- Partly arboreal. [1]
- Its conspicuous scale keels are reflected in the name carinata. [1]
The depth of biological coverage varies by species. Missing traits are research gaps, not evidence that a behaviour or habitat is absent.
